I bought this product for my rats. They were able to get out through the bars, so I had to cover the whole cage with black screen. Fastened on with 100 tiny black zip ties. That was fine. It looks very good, and the rats love it. It is the largest most luxurious home 2 rats ever had! I also bought a pet tunnel which was recommended and the rats sleep in there. Awesome product but has to be customized for smaller rodents like mine. Absolutely no complaints or negatives. Great! Thanks!

I was so excited when I purchased this for my two rats. Unfortunately when I received it, I notice the bar spacing was much larger than in the description, especially where they bent apart due to cheap materials and bad shipping. I tried to put it together anyway, trying to be optimistic that my rats wouldn’t try to get out. I could not get the pieces together. The plastic on the slide would start to bend and just as I was about to actually get the pieces together they slipped and I scrapped my knuckle. So much for “E-z directions”. I am now bleeding, though the nice thing was that it was much easier to take apart than put together.
I DO NOT recommend buying this. EVER!!!

We purchased this three – four weeks ago four our two active male rats who outgrew their ten gallon tanks. Purchased on sale at Petco. We have been mostly happy with the purchase. The rats took a week or two to get comfortable but now are using the hammock. I also like it because if we are gone all day they have room to run around so I don’t feel so guilty!
Cons: The purple shelves were not correct. We had to install them (and then everything else) in reverse. The top shelf is completely inverted so there are no tabs on the back to secure to the cage, only the two ends are hooked up. These seems to be working ok, however, it is not the way pictured on the box. Also, as mentioned before, the bedding flies out everywhere so the kids take turns sweeping daily. The flat green “ladder” piece doesn’t stay on anywhere. It’s supposed to be on the purple shelf but won’t stay. We also have tried it hooked on the cage. It still falls off. The inside was a bother to assemble because it was all reversed. Our pets prefer to jump rather than use the slide so not sure we needed all that.
Pros: The wheels are a must to move for cleaning. The base and cage were easy to assemble. Even with the above mentioned problems it took us around an hour or less to assemble. The size is good for two animals to get along. They can also sleep in the hammock together. The like to crawl up the walls of the cage for even more excersize.
If all the pieces had come as indicated and stayed where they are supposed to, it would get a five.

I bought this for my ferret, but as you can see from the picture, the set up is wrong. This is because the item we got seems to have a problem with the shelfs. It wouldnt even clip onto the cage right because the hole was in the wrong area, so they couldn’t be put correctly. We had to adjust it to find a way to get them to work, and my poor baby can’t even get to the top. The ladder going to the top story is very slippery and all it does is slide down making it impossible for it to get up there that way. He had to clime the entire cage to try to get up, which most the time he falls. I do plan on replaceing this as soon as possible with a much better cage. But for starters, it was a good deal. He also isn’t a big fan of the slide. It does have a lot of room though.

I inherited this cage from a foster ferret in September. Once she got adopted, I kept the cage and transffered my two youngest rats into it. I’d tried moving all four in, but the two elderly rats couldn’t navigate the cage. Certainly recommend this cage solely for younger rats. I love how roomy it is, and how secure it is. My two youngest rats are escape artists, and have yet to free themselves of this cage. The three doors this cage has is really helpful, and the cage has a small footprint, which I enjoy.
My major problem is that the shelves are so hard to move and to clean. When I clean at the end of the week, I have to stretch and reach all over the cage to get it sanitary. When I try to move the shelves into different positions, it takes a lot of yanking and struggling to get them to move, and they often get stuck sideways inside of the cage.
Also, the ramps between shelves are ridiculous. The ramp is way to steep, the slide is a joke, and the tunnel is too short. while my boys can manuver them, I know many that wouldn’t try it. It took two weeks for them to even attempt the slide. Instead, I ended up putting a cat scratching post in so they could climb from the bottom to the next shelf up, and putting a piece of plywood inbetween the bars for another level so that they could get all the way to the top.
Overall, it’s roomy and nice, and with a few adjustments it is bareable to live with. If I’d have had a say in the cage I’d inherit, I wouldn’t have chosen this one.
