I was at the concert, not the exact one on the DVD, but another one from the Gratitude Cafe tour in Columbia, MD. The song selection was awesome and Jason’s live performance skills are always top notch. He is one of the few live performers who are as good live as he is on CD. Although I do wish that he had included “Geek In The Pink” since that song is one of my favorites but everything else that I liked was there.

I was at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island on August 13, 2009, and had the privilege of literally standing 10 feet away from Jason Mraz, one of the best singer/songwriters of the 21st century, in my opinion. Mraz has indescribable vocals, good guitar skills, and a great band. Not only did he sound amazing live, he really sold his happiness; it was totally legitimate.
Now, I was thrilled when I heard on the radio about a week before the concert that this particular show was going to be recorded for a CD/DVD that would come out before Christmas because, well, I would have been there. But after the concert was over and I was heading home, I realized that this CD was going to be amazing. He did leave out a couple of my favorites though; they didn’t choose to put Life is Wonderful, You and I Both, or Who Needs Shelter? on the album, which he sang at the concert.
Overall, I loved the CD, and the DVD more, since I got to relive a truly awesome show.

Interesting fact… most of these songs have been released, either on his “We Steal Things” album or earlier. Doesn’t matter. He freshens them up and it is a thrill to hear them again and again. He also does a cover of “All Night Long” that will keep you dancing the night away.. even if it is in your living room. And he has a new release ( I believe) “ANYTHING YOU WANT” which could easily be his next big hit!!! I am a huge fan!! If you have been to one of his concerts… this one takes you there again. Great album…!!!

I wish I were there with all the audience and Jason Mraz at the Chicago concert! The performance is spectacular and the sound quality is superb. Please watch the DVD first because it is fun to see Jason having such a great time.
